Trump’s Plan for a Talk with Putin

A phone call between the two is scheduled for this Monday 5/19, in two days.
I don’t’ think it will work.
Putin will come out ahead in any deal the two agree on and Trump won’t notice until it’s over.
But our president will be quick to jump on Zelensky. ‘Don’t be ungrateful!’ ‘I’ll cut back on the arms you’re getting from us if you don’t comply.’
Trump’s close associates will plead with him to get back to Putin and seek remedy but the Russian won’t balk. ‘A deal is a deal,’ he’ll say.
Putin has assessed the situation and believes he can get away with keeping all the conquered territories, including Crimea (which he annexed uncontested in 2014), have most economic sanctions lifted on Russia (mainly their energy exports) and forbid the West from sending allied troops into Ukraine as a precaution against another invasion.
Putin’s one concession will be that he won’t interfere with the US extracting mineral deposits from Ukraine from a prior agreement between the two.
Still, Trump will come out of the meeting calling the talk with Putin ‘just beautiful’ because it will save thousands and thousands of lives. Maybe even add, ‘Vladimir’s such a great guy’.
Will Zelensky agree to the terms?
He may but should not.
Still, it could be that his people will choose to bow to reality and stop fighting, considering the likelihood of greater and greater losses without proper armaments.
But it will be a sad day for the free…
