The choice was right in front of him — Marco Rubio, senator from Florida.
The advantage of choosing Rubio would have been to splinter Latino voters.
But I am glad Trump goofed because it would’ve hurt the Democratic ticket.
For a variety of reasons, some Latinos like Trump.
It may be that identifying with Trump makes them feel more American.
Never mind what their candidate says. Mass deportations on day 1 (there goes your cousin), eliminating the department of Education (the Bible has got all the answers), ending the war in Ukraine in 24 hours (Putin’s mass killings are too far away).
The need for acceptance is so strong among some Latinos that it blinds them to the big picture.
With Trump’s goof, though, Latinos are now more likely to vote for Harris.
Welcome to reality.
A sharp contrast is emerging between the two candidates.
Harris is filled with energy, is easy to smile and clearly seems like someone who can sit down with you and have a conversation over a subject the two disagree on to begin.
Trump doesn’t project that image.
He’s bitter. Still nursing the wound of not having been elected to a second term.
Upon learning that Biden had chosen to not stand for reelection he had only nasty remarks for the president. Trump seems unable to process personal pain. He lacks the capacity to develop perspective.
Hear him begin to talk and you feel his sense of entitlement, which only grows as he carries on…
