Trump’s Disconnect With Ukraine
‘It is not my war,’ he loudly proclaims.
‘If I had been president, it wouldn’t have happened,’ he adds wanting to reassure himself.
But dear reader, do you really think Putin would have been daunted by Trump?
No. It is the other way around.
Take this last meeting with Putin — on Monday. Going in, Trump said he would be applying sanctions if the Russian didn’t agree to a ceasefire.
The meeting came and went and Trump applied nothing.
‘Well,’ he said, afterwards, to the disappointed leaders of the EU, ‘I don’t think he wants peace. He thinks he can win the war.’
Of course he does.
Putin need only play back the tape where Trump badgers Zelensky in public for not being grateful enough. Which was followed by withholding aid to Ukraine for a period while insisting they make a deal with us for the exploitation of their mineral resources.
‘It is not my war!’
Sorry, Mr President, you inherit all that your predecessors did and didn’t do.
‘I just want to make deals with Russia so we can make a lot of money!’ Trump proclaims.
I think he puts himself to sleep every night going over the same thing.
Never mind the moral issues.
The question of a valiant people’s struggle for freedom matters little to Trump’s conscience.
In his mind, it is all about making the dollars.
‘You want America’s protection? You’ll have to pay for it.’
He said that. He last said it to Taiwan.
That is our president. That is who we elected.
