Tribute to Biden

It took a while for Biden to acknowledge that it didn’t make sense for him to run for reelection.
Took a while for him to realize that his powers were no longer as sharp as they had been, and that by insisting on running for a second term he would be increasing the chances that Trump would win.
The late June debate with Trump had not gone well. Age had made a difference.
Biden then faced a difficult choice. He sought the counsel of his family and others close to him.
Meanwhile some donors held back their contributions while others were vocal in their disapproval.
In the end, Biden gave in. Even though he had the delegates necessary to secure the nomination, he chose to voluntarily decline to run again and instead pass the torch to Vice President Harris.
It was a tough decision but he made the right choice.
Republicans, sensing that a younger democratic candidate would be a stronger opponent to Trump, rushed to call Biden’s concession the result of a coup.
Democracy was being subverted, they cried loudly — never mind all the antidemocratic moves their candidate is known for.
Even some democratic power brokers wanted to take credit for ‘convincing’ Biden to cede the nomination to Harris. Take credit for ‘pushing him out’ as it were.
But in the end it was Biden’s decision and only his.
The words ‘I love my job but I love my country more,’ could only come from a man who had served his country with dignity. A man of the people and for the…
