Now is the time for President Biden to take the initiative and challenge Trump to a debate.
Today, when Russia is advancing on Ukraine because of the incredible lack of leadership by Republican Senator Mitch McConnell and Republican Representative Mike Johnson, who have blocked legislation that would authorize the military spending necessary for Ukraine to defend itself. Shame on them and the Republican party.
Without such aid, Russia is regaining the initiative, making more likely a Russian victory and a Free World that is diminished.
Blood is being spilled in Ukraine every single day because of the absurdity and inhumanity of Republican obstructionism. And there will be even more blood spilled if Trump wins.
Mr Trump has made clear that he will not defend Ukraine. But Ukrainians will not surrender to Putin and Russia.
Recently, Trump hosted Viktor Orban, the Hungarian prime Minister, at Mar-A-Lago.
Afterwards, Mr Orban was quoted as saying that when Mr Trump wins reelection, ‘not a penny’ would go to Ukraine’. Orban is well known for his support of Putin.
So now is the time for Biden to make good on his pledge that America will not walk away from the battle for Ukraine.
This is the time for Biden to challenge Trump to a debate and expose his flawed thinking, a thinking that if allowed to prevail, will devalue our position in the world.
This is the time, also, because a third party candidate could end up…
