While walking this morning, I came to an intersection and started going across.
On the other side, waiting for the light to change, stood a brown colored man in a bike.
The red cap made me wonder. Could it be?
And as I approached my impression was confirmed. It was a MAGA cap that he wore.
He was clearly an immigrant and Latino. He wore what looked like work clothes.
A Latino for Trump?
Or a Latino afraid of Trump? Of Trump and the rage he excites in his followers.
The man seemed like a recent immigrant but maybe not.
I thought of stopping and asking him if he was indeed a Trump supporter but didn’t.
I’ve known other Latinos who are Trump supporters. Some ardent believers.
One even admitted that she was a racist. She is a hard working person, a good person, but somehow felt a strong need to differentiate herself from the more recent arrivals.
Light colored, a long time citizen, she felt sure she would pass scrutiny, once the onslaught against immigrants begins, if Trump is elected.
But just in case, why not align herself with the aggressor?
Which is what the bike rider at the intersection was likely doing.
Elon Musk doesn’t have to worry about it.
Though he once worked illegally in this country, as recent reports have shown, he has risen to prominence and to bolster his position, he has embraced his majesty Trump. Even given him tens of millions of dollars.
