If it hasn’t already.
Yesterday, after Putin launched another barrage of missiles and drones into Ukraine, killing many people, Trump dared say, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with him? What the hell happened to him?’
It was a possible sign — perhaps — that Trump is beginning to see the light.
(that, of course, could change tomorrow morning)
To date, Trump has been in denial about Putin’s behavior, preferring instead to blame Zelensky for a war he didn’t start.
A report today, attributed to Friedrich Merz, the new German chancellor, said that the West was now giving permission to Ukraine to fire the missiles they’ve provided, deep into Russian territory, and that the decision included the US.
If so, it would be a sign that something might be turning.
Weeks ago, Trump himself, in an unguarded moment, acknowledged that Putin was playing him, when he said that the Russian was ‘tapping him along.’
Yes, he has been doing so.
Every time that Trump opens his mouth to blame Zelensky for something, Putin smiles.
‘Ha! How nicely I’m dividing the West.’
