This is the time.
Kamala Harris is now the front runner in the sprint to become the official Democratic candidate for President, replacing Biden, with only 106 days left to the general election.
She has already put some calls in to prospective running mates. The initial three she called were all men. What happened to the women?
The convention starts August 19th. Biden will then release his delegates and they will be free to vote for whomever they please.
This is the time, then, for all democrats who believe themselves qualified for the job to step up and challenge Harris.
And it would be a grand show of democracy at work.
A candidate selected in a public forum televised nationwide.
What a contrast with the Republican side.
For now Harris has the lead.
She has had the advantage of being vice president and benefits from having worked closely with Biden, but challengers in an open forum would test her mettle.
That contest should take place. The public needs to see it.
If Harris comes up on top, then the choice of another woman as a running mate would create a sharper contrast with the Republican side.
