The way Trump treated Zelensky the other day in the Oval Office, is most revealing.
He expected the Ukrainian to fall to his knees in front of him.
When Zelensky kept his composure, Trump and Vance became infuriated.
The press was invited to the Oval Office so that there would be clear evidence for Putin to assess the situation.
Upon reviewing the video of the exchange, the Russian was surely most pleased with Trump and Vance’s behavior.
And so going into the negotiations to end the war, Putin knows he has the upper hand.
Trump will not stand up for Ukraine.
Neither will his new side kick, Elon Musk, who advocates for America to leave NATO and the United Nations.
In other words, we don’t need anyone. We are so great.
Anything to please his highness, Donald the First.
The American public doesn’t quite yet get that Trump is kowtowing to the Russian.
Our president puts it as if he was sparing us great suffering with his magnificent negotiating.
But he’s selling out a brave and proud nation.
And selling out Ukraine is betrayal by another name.
To betray another nation is to degrade ourselves.
To Trump, Zelensky is a wheeler dealer who’s extracted billions of dollars in aid from us.
He doesn’t see the honor and courage of the Ukrainian at the helm of a unique nation willing to defy the cruelty of Russia.
How we ended up with Trump as president is a story for historians to decipher in detail.
