Already we’re seeing reports of proposals to end the war, aiming to force Ukraine into a pact with Russia.
We’re hearing of ideas like accepting that Russia has taken about 20% of Ukraine’s land and letting Russia keep it, in effect forcing Ukraine into acknowledging the present war boundaries as their new border.
These Putin apologists, which seem to abound in Trump’s camp, further propose that Ukraine agree to not continue with its application to be part of NATO for another 20 years, in exchange for the West arming them in the event of another Russian invasion.
They want to sell out Ukraine.
Meanwhile, North Korean troops are already helping Putin by fighting Ukraine in the Kursk area.
And Iran keeps supplying Russia with drones and missiles.
And China adds support also by helping to replace their armaments, circumventing sanctions.
In the face of all such assistance, why can’t we allow Ukraine to fire the weapons we provide them, directly into Russian territory, so long as they are aimed at military targets?
Not that Putin makes such distinction. He kills both civilians and military wantonly. But it doesn’t seem to make a dent in Trump’s view of him.
I understand that you fear an escalation of the war if you were to grant such option to Ukraine, but Ukraine is being pushed back by Russia’s much greater resources.
They’re fighting for their lives.
Why shouldn’t we respond?
