Mr Biden. The Border and Jimmy Carter

Dear Sir:
There’s a parallel here, isn’t there? Jimmy Carter didn’t solve the American hostage crisis in Iran and it dragged on and on (11/4/79–1/20/81).
You’re not solving the immigration problem at our southern border.
Both problems became pronounced at the end of your respective terms.
Jimmy Carter’s ineffectiveness led to his losing the presidency to Ronald Reagan.
Will your ineffectiveness at the border lead to your losing the presidency to Donald Trump?
We understand that you are a compassionate man, but the growing number of people crossing into our country is creating the perception that you cannot come up with a solution.
During his term, Carter had been a good president. In addition to his accomplishments here at home, he had also worked very hard to bring about an agreement between Egypt’s Sadat and Israel’s Begin to secure lasting peace in the Middle East, culminating with the signing of a treaty in March 1980.
Had Carter been able to remain in power, relations between Israelis and Palestinians would have likely been better and subsequent conflicts prevented.
Now, imagine yourself not getting a deal to solve the border crisis and then losing to Trump.
Imagine the consequences for our nation, the increased polarization, the continued erosion of connections between ourselves and the likelihood that our support for Ukraine would end. Imagine the consequences for our standing in the world…
