Dear Harris and Biden— I Got It!

It came to me last night as I wondered, what could be done to persuade Biden that it’s time to pass the baton.
It is time for Biden to say, ‘I’ve been a good president. Both in national and foreign affairs. No fair minded person can say I’ve not wrestled with the difficult issues of the day in an attempt to solve them. I have led with all I have to help guide us and the world to a better place. A place of freedom and compassion.’
‘But as a dear friend of mine said to me, advancing age has dealt me a rough hand. I no longer have the quickness to respond to some questions. As much as I try, it takes me a little longer. And it’s okay when I’m not on the spotlight, but when I am — as in a televised public debate — I stumble. I lose the sharpness that is needed to impress. The debate last Thursday was hard on me. Very hard. And it pained me to not be all that my fellow Americans want me to be. It pained me to disappoint. Much as I wanted, I just couldn’t be swifter.’
‘Another fellow who writes to me now and then, said “Joe, watch the debate, again and again, with no one at your side to hold your hand. Watch and rewatch. You will see for yourself that it’s time to move on. No matter how much you try, you’re unlikely to do better in a second debate.”
‘And by the way, thank you, Obama, for saying everyone has a night off. I appreciate it. But this was different.’
