You’ve been messing up.
The fight with Disney won’t push you up in the polls.
Look, catering to the hard Right won’t do it. That worked for Trump — for a while — then it fizzled out. And no, we won’t be completing the Wall he started. The sections built will remain there as testament to a bad idea.
But let’s talk Disney. Which means let’s talk sex.
Who would’ve thought but there it is.
Sex is a really important part of our lives. And there are lots of folks stepping out and saying that — though their anatomical sex puts them in the male or female camp — their minds and feelings go in a different direction.
That is all right.
What those folks are doing is asking for tolerance from the rest of us. They’re saying, ‘I may be anatomically male or female but it’s not me’. That doesn’t make them bad.
The early grade school instruction that you forbade in your state, to great applause from your base, was aiming at fostering tolerance. Encouraging compassion for those who are different.
Sex is a powerful force. For the most part, boy likes girl and girl likes boy.
But there are those for whom it is different and they end up being drawn to their same sex.
Sooner or later scientists will trace it to its genetic roots but, for now, what we have is the expression of those desires seeking fulfillment.
Getting information as to the differences in sexual affinities won’t corrupt a child. It will broaden their perspectives.
