Yes, we are. And we are because that is the condition under which we have the best chance of developing the fullness of our potential.
That is what nature intends.
As we develop and realize what possibilities our circumstances permit, we come into our own.
Many obstacles are found on the path to personal development.
They can be the absence of food, shelter, education, interaction, medical care.
All of us can look back on our lives and realize that certain circumstances may have acted as barriers, but we push on to develop what we can while we can.
Today, we enjoy freedoms many of our ancestors did not.
Our children now enjoy freedoms we did not have.
Their children will have even greater freedoms.
But this enlarging of our possibilities made greater by increasing freedoms is not assured.
It has to be fought for.
And sometimes life itself has to be risked.
That is what the Ukraine Russia war is about.
It is not a ‘territorial dispute’ as the present Governor of Florida recently put it, arguing for reduced American support for Ukraine.
The Ukraine Russia war is a war of enormous significance because it pits a people committed to preserving their freedoms against a man and his henchmen bent on taking it from them.
To the credit of the West, we have provided much support to Ukraine.
But to our discredit, we have not gone far enough.
And that is where we stand.
