It has been a long career.
You’ve had your ups and downs but you have dedicated your life to public service.
And you have done it well.
We have agreed and disagreed on various matters but, in my view, you always strived to give your best.
So, thank you, Mr Biden, for living a life that made a difference for many of us here in this land and also abroad. It is only the few that can say that. What a privilege.
You left us with a sound economy.
You supported Ukraine.
You made health care better.
You continued to move us forward with the greening of America.
You have recognized the importance of stimulating the development of critical technology.
You have made efforts to prevent China from having access to information that they could then use to further their military ambitions, to our detriment and that of the world.
You have been a world leader. And how many can say that?
You have dreamed, Mr President, of a better America and you worked hard to make it a reality.
So rest easy, Mr Biden, that you will be remembered well.
There is still life left in you for you to do wonderful things. And you would be following in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter, with whom you enjoyed a good friendship.
You have your critics. Those who see nothing positive from your tenure.
Don’t bother with them. Onwards!
Above all, enjoy the fruits of your efforts.
